New to Running? That's no Excuse!

 

If you always fancied being one of those women/Mums that just chucks on her trainers and heads out for a run, but aren't sure where to start, Mums on the Run Club is a good place! 

 

We will learn all about running form (your posture etc), techniques and most importantly, we will head out on a gentle run and follow a training plan that will get you from wherever you are now to 5km in just a few weeks! We will get you to focus on becoming a competant, confident runner, whittling down the walking to running ratio and focussing on your first event, which could be a 5 or 10k organised run! We don't split you up into groups defending on speed, we all run together and look after one

another, so there is no such thing as at the back or being the slowest! Every month, we have a shorter (less than 5km) route, which you can take on!

WHAT TO WEAR:

 

supportive trainers (as a member of Mums on the Run you can get 10% off at Helix Sport in Dorridge and Real Buzz on th Stratford Road in Shirley)

supportive sports bra

suitable running clothes (3/4 bottoms, leggings, vest, t-shirt - Primark do some excellent fitness clothes starting at just £4 for tops and £6 for bottoms)

 

WHAT TO BRING:

 

  • your smart phone - please download the free app Strava and search for our coach Sarah Reeves prior to attending your first session - ask Sarah if you are not sure. If you do not have a smart phone, a digital watch or stop watch is fine too!

  • a drink - but mostly we leave these in the car until we finish - you do not need to take on fluids if you are running under 5 miles in one go

  • some enthusiasm, positivity and sense of humour!
